Ronald McDonald House
Our co-operative has come a long way in one hundred years. We’d like to give our future rural leaders the tools to take it even further in the next one hundred. And that means establishing programs that keep rural youth healthy and educated. In teaming up with Ronald McDonald Houses of Alberta we are striving to do exactly that. For the parents and families of children with serious injuries or critical illnesses, Ronald McDonald House is a home-away-from-home. The house offers a degree of comfort in a time of stress and provides a safe setting where families can connect with other families that are facing similar challenges. Seventy-five percent of families staying at Ronald McDonald House are from rural communities. A lot of them know us well. Many are UFA members. That’s why our co-operative has partnered with Ronald McDonald House to develop the UFA Hometown Classroom Connection. It’s a program that will implement leading-edge technology – including SMART boards, laptops and streaming video cameras -- into Continuing a child’s education during treatment is the truest message of hope for recovery.
